Cost of anchor chain.

I need to buy some chain and anchorplait for a second anchor. JG sells lengths of chain spliced to warp but his chain seems to be about double the price of grade 40 chain I can find elsewhere. Will it be worth paying the extra?
I was thinking of 10 metres 8mm chain spliced to 40 metres 14mm anchorplait. This will be over £300. Is there a cheaper way? (I usually anchor in shallow water as I only draw 1 metre, and this is intended for a second anchor, but you never know).

Boat gear direct have some on offer at the moment, their Titan chain looks decent quality.

For a kedge or second anchor I doubt the need to spend high prices for JG's Maggi chain. Mine is grade 30 and seems perfectly OK. I use it for fork mooring in strong winds, so it has seen useful service.

Not sure how their chain compares to grade 40, but maybe you could go a size up if it matters.
