A French boat just came into the marina and pierced one tube of my Avon Hypalon RIB with her anchor.

What will it cost to have this professionally repaired? And will the RIB ever be the same? Aggravating as I just bought this new RIB last year to replace an old one with a patch.

Surely the French chap's insurance will pay for a new one and you can exchange yours for them to repair and keep.

Being a hire yacht will make it much easier and the hirer has probably lodged a bond to cover damage with the hire company - get on the phone quick.

Definitely get his insurance details or hire company's as soon as you can then advise your insurance and leave it to them to sort out. As its almost new, you should get a new one to replace it.

Really depends on who is paying. If its an insurance claim then without hesitation take it to Henshaws in Somerset. Its a pleasant day out down the A303 and the cost of delivery plus collection is chargeable as part of the insurance claim. Need a van or trailer,? charge that too. Henshaws replaced the rear cone of my rib a few years ago when it tore the seam joining to the main tube. A tricky repair but afterwards you couldn't tell which side had been repaired.

If you are going to end up paying then have a chat with Barney who runs the IOW Harbourmasters yard / marina at the IOW fuel depot on the Medina. He will either be able to do it or know someone on the Island. He sold me the A frame btw.
He is also selling this and his number is on the advert: http://www.wightbay.com/east-cowes/...ey-seat-single-console-rib-powerboat-5410056/

If you are going to do it, I will com across and supervise.

If you aren't getting a free replacement - you should consider putting an identical patch on the opposite side to look like wear patches...
