I've just done the costing exercise to rebuild (using just body and faceplate) the Yanmar 3YM water-pump.

Parts cost (mainly from Aquafax) £90.87, new pump (from Marine Power) £150.69.
Both prices ex VAT but delivered.
I'll probably source the bearings and seal in Greece (cost €5.80 cf £18.37 in UK) and rebuild using the old (slightly tatty) shaft.

Thought the exercise might be of interest to others.

If the shaft is tatty, the pump will probably dribble.
The jabsco on my engine wants >£60 for a new shaft I think.
Got a friend with a lathe?
Not so, the tat is on the two ends - where the impeller fits and the other end, where the pulley (a poor, ill-designed and ill-made) pressed steel 1/2 flat fits.
The price for the Johnson shaft is £18.17 including VAT and you'd have to start with 25mm dia bar to machine from solid, 85mm length of 25mm 316 bar - you'd not have much change from £15 from a stockholder.
