My recent, good quality DZR sea cocks have the usual poor quality handles, rapidly corroding under the coloured plastic coating. I'm sure this is a common problem, but I cant seem to find a supplier of replacement handles.
Any one one know of a source, preferably of better quality?

ASAP supplies ?

Mine are not wonderful, so I paint them with Hammerite.

Just what I was about to suggest.

A previous boat had a very rusty propshaft coupling, a small leak from the engine causing the corrosion.

I repaired the leak, used my H/D bench grinder fitted with a 7 inch diameter wire wheel to clean up the coupling and painted it with silver Hammerite.

It looked like new, and was still good 7 years later.

Thanks all. Of course I had done an internet search: ASAP have nothing, but the marine chandlery ones look better, I will sort out the sizes.

What-taking the easy and sensible way out!

Why not do as BS suggests. Buy some 20mmX 3mm S/S strip, cut into lengths, cut, file or grind the end to a nice profile for a nice smooth feel, drill two holes in the other end-I am assuming you dont have a milling machine-join these holes by painstakingly filing untill they fit the shaped fitting on the seacock.

Should only take you a few hours, cost just the material and a few wrecked drills/files. Perhaps a couple of grazes or scuffs on your hands.

Once done, they will last 40 years-I know, BS told me.

Or, order the off the shelf ones and go sailing....................................
