Corroded taps, what to do?

Most of our taps are showing their age, they are easy enough to replace, but the mixer spout is not, so I need to look at a way of renovating it. It has the usual chrome type finish. Any ideas on what I can do to make it look like new again. SWMBO is breathing down my neck.....................

Easiest to buy a new one, cheapest on Ebay.

When you say it's not easy to replace, does that mean you can't buy one or it is awkward to get at? What's wrong with getting the old one replated if it's really special?

It's an odd size so finding a replacement will be difficult. Re-plating sounds interesting, how do I get that done? Thanks.

We had chrome taps replated, found a company by using Yellow pages but Google may be better.
