What's the correct term for a length of hardwood used for joining two sheets of timber at right angles? Like this, which is 15mm x 15mm with a one corner rounded.

I'm mounting an extra ply panel inside the nav station cupboard to hold more kit. I could mount it using some stainless steel angle, or a nylon thing of the same shape, but this way allows me to fit two vertical rails and I can screw the new panel in at any height I need, move it or add more.

I don't know if the existing wood is teak, mahogany or something else but I assume teak is most likely.

These seem to be hard to find!

cheers

Thanks all for your ideas! @ChromeDome I don't need any encouragement to buy more tools... :)

I think I may have missed the obvious. Someone I was talking today called it a moulding, perhaps that's the term for the piece I'm looking for.

Of course, 'cabinetry' is a very lofty term for what I'm looking at. 'Screwing stuff together' is about as advanced as I get with wood!

Yes it is a moulding , but that's the general term for the whole range of different cross sections. I don't know what this particular one is called or even if it has a name,

Shoe moulding perhaps , but that's from an American website

You don't need a router. You could easily plane pieces of rectangular section to shape.

Roundover or bullnose moulding
bullnose moulding - Bing video
The sample shown by the OP appears to be a bullnose. ie with a full round on 1 flat face. Agreed. (y)
But one would not use it in the corner as it seems the Op is intending to do. That is why I suggested a quadrant with a round across one corner;)
I have run a few thousand metres of the stuff in my joinery works over the years

I am with you.
15 x15 is quite small. Hope it is not carrying any load.

What you want is here kjhowells.co.uk/product/teak-quadrant-moulding-catalogue-code-d/ along with other standard mouldings plus he will make others to order if you want a decent amount. 10 minutes drive from my home and I will be there during the week to buy some sliding door channels.

Not a lot of help for you in NZ, but as you live in the world's best "can do" country pretty sure you can find a joinery shop with a router to run some up for you. Might even find somebody similar to my supplier who has stock.

No need for a joinery shop Tranona. A plane a some sand paper will do the job on 15 x 15 material.

I found a local supplier!

I purchased 15x15 teak with one rounded corner, when it arrives from Auckland I'll post back.

No load on this to speak of. The same item is used throughout the boat on simple structures like cabinets.

Thank you!
