We have fitted 15x17 props, and getting 3000 rpm at about 12 knts with 15x15 std props the revs rise but the speed drops and there is a lot of vibration .the book says it should rev to 5100 but i've never met anyone who has a volvo engine that revs to that 4000 rpm is a more realistic speed.
I rekon you've got AQ145's in there. They do rev up to about 5500 rpm. but to be fair they are reaching the top of the range. The "books" reckon cruising speed of the engines are around 400 revs lower than this. So this should be around 4900-5000 ish revs. Also check what drives you have as volvo produced them in various ratios.
What sort of speeds are you hoping to attain, as these engines sound a bit on the small side for such a heavily built boat of this size. Nice boats though, we looked at a 27ft aft cabin, Impressive room for its size!!
15x17's sounds bang on to me, what your probably lacking is
grunt and possibly overloaded or dirty bottom, 12knts is the hump
speed where you should just start to plane, so maximum power
is required.
I think most Oceanfarers had twin V6 175's or larger, so if your
4 cylinders are past their best you may be struggling.
Weight weight weight.Get rid of all that junk festering in cubby holes/lockers etc(just how much cutlery do you need).Do you really need to drag around all those "spares".
My princess 175 HP/25 ft,went from 13 to 18 knots and for the first time I saw 4000 rpm on rev counter after I chucked 99% of the "ballast" my boat was carrying around over the side.
Exercise is bunk.If you are healthy, you do not need it;if you are sick you should not take it.
