Coppercoated Hull, but need to sort keel, opinions on primocon and seajet antifoul for it?

So had Symblast coppercoat the hull for me, they left the keel as theres some specs of rust coming through mainly by the bottom where its hard to get to. its a stub keel. It was previously coated with a two part Jotun paint straight after sandblasting last year then has west system barrier coat on it. I thought i could just sand the areas back, apply promocon and aply antifoul to the keel? Thanks

Thats what I do. The copper coat didn't work on our keels due to damp conditions when we applied it. So I treat any rust spots with Vactan, under water primer then anti foul.

the rust on the keel has got through the two part jotun and new barrier coat, so was reluctant to sand all that back, could i just antifoul it for this season so i can just use the boat after its been sitting since dec 2019

Primocon or Jotun Vinyguard which is much cheaper although only in 5l from SML paints.

Similar issue to OP, Terccoo blasted down to bright metal, 2 coats of Navy Steel rust converter, 5 coats of Primocon on and 2 coats of antifouling, 2 months later rust is coming back through. Never again, throw her in the water and get sailing

Well, there is a better solution (at least it seems so far). Symblast did my keel last year and immediately coated with Hempel Hempadur. I applied the next 5 coats and then Coppercoat. Before, after and 6 weeks ago. The squirts on the bottom are where the blocks were.

i just want to launch now. i think it was Jotun Penguard left with me by the shotblast guy last year that he also used on the keel, can i just use that on the keel before antifoul, ill neet to key the barrier coat on the keel first.. It was a two part Jotun im at work and the paint is in the garage at home but want to order antifoul by the weekend so think thats the one it was
