Hello everyone,
I have Coppercoat on my boat that was done 5 years ago. I have had a lot of growth recently and am taking my boat out of the water anyway and so rather than totally redoing the Coppercoat (I think it's too early) I am going to gently sand it, too take it back to its copper colour. Has anybody done this and what was your experience?
I also have few little scratches that I will fair. My hull is GRP and I was wondering what is the best product to use for the minor repairs and can I directly coat with Coppercoat as I will use an epoxy based product, or do I need to use a primer?
Thanks very much and fair winds!

Mine's had about 8 years in the water & I haven't yet done anything other than get in the water myself and scrub a bit with a scotchbrite pad but what you suggest is what they recommend for when a bit more growth starts to appear. I get a little bit of growth around the waterline on mine now but it's mostly slime and it all comes off easily...

Course scotchbrite gets into the dimples. You dont need to sand to pure copper colour. Just take the top off. Epoxy filler and Coppercoat over the top for the repairs is fine. Sand a “landing pad” around the repair with 120 grit to overlap the copper.
