Copper Slip on legs

Just a quick one.

Can you use copper slip to lubricate prop shafts and joints on a vp leg. I have heard some things about keeping copper products away from legs/ transoms etc due to corrosion.
Would it stand up to water for long?

I have also had top tips from spannerman on doing prop shaft seals so all systems go. I will try to take so piccies as we go along if anyones interested. It may of course just chart a disaster but at least I will have evidence for SWMBO that I tried my very bestest /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

The answer is very simple - NO

I think you knew that already but just wanted to check, didn't you?

It's waterproof grease you have to use and don't skimp on it on the shafts either.

A chap said use copper slip which I thought was a bit odd but thought I'd check.

I guess you mean Copaslip.

It is primarily an antiseize compound. Logic would suggest avoiding contact with aluminium. There is an aluminium based product though Alumslip
