Does anyone have direct experience about the effectiveness of metallic copper-based antuifouling on the Tamar? I am considering using CopperPlus or CopperCoat - any suggestions?

...ookokok... gimme a break, it is MONDAY /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif, it is wonderful out there and I am stuck in an office in stinking London dreaming of better pastures... or should that be shores.

So has anyone put some of the stuff ON THEIR BOAT (painted below the waterline) and moored it (THE BOAT), on the Tamar?

I used the previous product which was copper sheet made up of 5mm tiles on an epoxy backing sheet. I applied it to the Hydrovane auxilliary rudder and monitored it for two seasons including a couple of scrub offs and reabraiding the surface. It was not successful after a month or so it developed significant coverage and over a winter period of 6 months a lot of weed. I am glad I didn't go through the expense of treating the whole boat £4,000 plus. I would suggest that you evaluate the two products in a similar way if possible. The boat is in the Plym so not to far from the Tamar and probably has similar fouling charictaristics.

How much of a hurry are you in to make a decision? I can give you a definitive answer when we haul out. I am planning to sail back from our summer mooring on the Tamar to somewhere a little more accessible for the winter. Send me a PM if you would like to pop down and take a look.
