Last year we decided (rashly perhaps in retrospect) to have a copper based anti-fouling applied as we plan to sail across the pacific and thought it would reduce the need to antifoul. We had Oceoprotec applied which is similar to Coppercoat by a yard in Gocek Turkey called Emek Marine . Unfortunately this was done badly (as was most of their work) and after only 3 months there was quite heavy growth in certain areas where the material had not been applied properly. We crossed the atlantic in nov/dec 2012 and had the boat hauled out in Grenada. There areas over the keel especially where clearly the oceoprotec has not been applied (see pics). So I would be grateful for help with the question what to do now? Shall I just scape off the growth and apply standard anti-fouling or is it essential I use the same material (which is impossible to get in Grenada as far as I can tell)? I have no answers to many emails I have sent to Oceoprotec (now taken over by Mader) or to Emek Marine in Gocek. So grateful for any advice from any who have had similar problems. Thanks
