Hi folks,
I have owned one of these delightful little lifting keelers for a couple of years now. She really is superb to sail.

I would however very much like to find out a bit more about her history and original spec.

Does anyone have a copy of the original "owners manual" (if one ever existed!) or even a copy of the original publicity leaflet / brochure would be of interest?

Really just for general interest and to compare the original spec to some of the many mods which have been carried out on my boat by previous owners over the years.

If anyone can help I would of course be willing to pay for any postage or photocopying costs.

Does anyone know what size of spinni she should have - I would love to get one for this season?

Any help very much appreciated....

Regards

Rob

Hi Rob,

Just put mine up for sale (very reluctantly) after eight very enjoyable years of ownership. Getting a bit too lively for SWMBO's back I'm afraid, and being on a drying mooring the keel lifting was just getting a bit much for me.

Replaced her with a Hunter Liberty which is a little bit more sedate, and I like it very much.

The Harrier 20 doesn't get much publicity, which is a shame because it is a very good design, and as you say, sails superbly. Just like a big dinghy I always thought, great fun.

I have a few leaflets, a test report, and some general info that you may find interesting, and also a few photos of mods carried out to mine which you may find useful. If you send me a pm with your postal address and e-mail I'd be happy to sort something out for you.

Safe sailing

Hi Rob, I know this post is ancient, thought I’d try any way, I have a Copland Harrier and is a superb boat as you say. I have a copy of the pbo write up, I can see our hull number but the sail number is just 2 digits, 41. Do you have any info on finding out what is the actual number that she is. The serial number on the hull (back of cockpit) is 587484 and sail number is 41. I can’t understand any link of the 2. If you have any other info that would be great. TIA

In case it's of any use to anyone, my ancient 'Hoskyn's Yacht Directories' A-Z Good Yacht Guide' says of the Harrier:

'From Copland Boats in mid-1980's and a sister ship to the Foxterrier. Rated among the best of her cruiser/racer class, but compared unfavourably for interior finish with the small French boats sweeping the UK market.

LOA 20', beam 7'11", draught 1' - 4' (lift keel) or 3' (bilge keel).
4 berths.
Outboard.'
