I was looking throught he manual and noticed I had not changed some anodes that appear to screw into the cooling system on the Volvo AD31 engines. I remember seeing a new pair of spares in a plastic bag with the bits & pieces that came with the boat.

I have topped up the systems now, so will I be able to change these quickly and top up what coolant I loose, or are they too difficult to do quickly.

Thanks

D

Sorry dont know the answer but I dont surpose I could get a copy of your Manual Please please please...... I have the same engines but cant find any info apart from the owners handbook on Volvo's website..

On my engine the anodes can be changed externally.Located on the underside of the heat exchanger, has a square thingy on the end a bit like a brake adjuster to get out the core type plug that the anode screws into.Mine came out dead easy.

These are on the raw cooled side so you won't loose any coolant. It is at the rear of the heat exchanger and is on the end of the sqaure headed bolt. Take it out and the pencil anode srews on the end. You will see what I mean when you remove it.

Hot tip for removing the square headed plug which can easily round off if you are not careful. Use the short extension from a 1/2 " socket set, place the female end over the plug and use a decent adjustable wrench on the male end which is much harder than the plug and won't round off.
