Coolant hose reducer

I am replacing the rubber coolant hoses on my engine and I need a reducer from the heat exchanger (approx 85mm) to the fresh water pump (approx 35mm). The reducer that was on the exchanger is approx 20cm long and has a metal reinforcement inside it, but is not re-useable. Does anyone know where I can get one? Or even if it has a proper name? Any help would be much appreciated.

If it is a Bowman then you may get an appropriate rubber reducing elbow from http://www.west-4x4.demon.co.uk

Vetus do a plastic one, (re-usable) which has many sizes (stepped), which can be cut down to suit.

I think Colin (Englander) may be refering to the two models produced by Vetus (HA1338 and HA3060). The latter deals with 'large' size reducers but even so the larger dia is only 59 mm. Importantly, it's limited to 60C and specifically warns "not to be used for engine coolant lines".

If you have 200mm you could make one up from stainless tube and reducer, the material is called hygenic tube and is 1.5mm wall thickness, or get your local sheet metal worker to make one up out of 1.5mm stainless sheet. Use hose to connect either end

Yes, you are correct, however the placement of this reducer is on the cold seawater side of the system, ie, raw water pump to heat exchanger. I reckon it would be fine, never going to sea 60deg C. Mind you, you never know!!
