cookham lock - suitable for bbq?

having never actually walked down to the lock area at cookham, is it a suitable area for a small bbq (two of us)? Are you allowed to picnic in the field directly next to the lock (had a look on google earth).We normally do Hurley, which is ideal but fancy a change.
Also are there likely to be many boats out today, are conditions back to near normal, ie no red boards there?

Hi not sure about BBQ but as at 4 pm Friday the EA said they still had red boards at all locks above Boulters from Boulters to Teddington were on Yellow boards.

Friends went up to Maidenhead from Windsor yesterday and said it was still fast but ok.

The island just upstream of the lock cut is popular for BBQ`s or Cookham Reach, bit busy yesterday (Sunday) but lots of space now. Stream & height back to nornal

Bring some pretty girls cos I will be able to see you from my mooring !
