Help!

Can anyone advise where I could have my Calor gas cooker serviced. I have tried Corgi and all their marine contacts are not marine certified !
location Chichester, West Sussex.
Thanks in anticipation

Generally, I would recommend you try your local caravan specialist for anything to do with Calor Gas or 12V bits and pieces before shelling out to so-called boat specialists. Tell them its for a boat so that any critical requirements can be taken into account. They do understand that whilst you can drill a hole in the bottom of a caravan, boats present special problems....!!

It depends whats wrong with it,normaly if everyhing works all the shop will do is get the cleaner/polish out and charge you £25+.As long as no knobs are falling of etc,you could save yourself the money.make sure you check the conection for gas leaks etc.even better get SHMBO.to do the cleaning!!!!!

It would be much more important to get someone to board your craft and do a leakage test, using a manometer or other pressure measuring instrument. on your whole gas installation which tests not only the cooker but your gas plumbing. The test would take at least half an hour and would be much better than just getting the cooker serviced. It is almost impossible to verify the lack of small leaks using leak detecting liquids. A source for someone who could do leak testing would be a corgi registered caravan gas person or anyone with a BWB qualification for testing to the Inland waterways boat safety system.

Ian,
Agree that the whole system will need testing (I am going to replace it in accordance with Calor recomendations anyway) but Corgi engineers specialize in domestic/caravans or marine, the domestic engineer I spoke to would not touch marine since the testing regs are different. But I will try caravan shop for simple service of cooker.
