I've inherited a boat with a plastimo neptune 2000 cooker, hardly used. It's on gimbals, but there is no mechanism to lock them.

I've found gimbal locks for neptune 3000 cookers advertised on line, but without pictures, so I have no idea what they are or how they work, and hence whether one would work on my cooker.

All I can think of is something like a cabin hook at the side, which doesn't seem very satisfactory, so I would appreciate any ideas on how to make or buy a suitable lock.

Gimbal Lock

We replaced our old Flavell with a Neptune 2500 and like yours this did not have a lock. I was going to fit one if we were keeping the boat and I had in mind a simple barrel bolt like the one on the Flavell. I had planned to fit the barrel bolt on a plate attached to the base of the cooker and have it engage in a hole drilled in the cabinet side next to the cooker. It's simple, unobtrusive and can be locked in either position.

I used the plunger and spring from a snap shackle.
