Received the following via email this morning :-
------ ' Sunday 9 November - Customers are advised that due to the replacement sill gate work there will be no vessel access or egress over the sill gate during the next 24 hrs. - Alternative areas at owners own risk will be offered for vessels wishing to access and egress the Marina. Please contact the Marina Office for more details -------.
Hope this info is useful for Berth holders who may have been planning a trip tomorrow.

Yes I got that, its a very serious business by the look of it repairing the gate, the work is serously going on night & day & is tremendos. Who ever put the wrong foam in needs shooting, there has been so much distruption, the cost also must be huge.

All sorts of rumours flying about re the costs £400k plus is the latest . As you rightly say a very costly mistake indeed plus the disruption to the operation of the Marina.

Don't really know , there was obviously a problem with the sill gate mechanics or similar hence the reason to replace, but I don't think these sort of problems were ever envisaged or should have occured - wrong type of foam filler ????

There is a place not too far away that has old technology in use for getting in and out.... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

They dont seen to have half as much trouble as Conwy, maybe it's time for Conwy to down grade from their latest up to date equipment and go analogue again!

[/ QUOTE ] The lock chains do break, but one of the boats there has a family of divers who are usually on hand to go down and fix things.
