It's predicted to be one helluva windy week up North Wales at least. Starting tonight climaxing in wind gusts pushing F11 by Friday from the West. You fellas in the marina ghetto are going to take the brunt of it so if you have any canvas up, take it down!

how you doing, had few little gusts over here but no canvas rippers ...yet.

40mph gusts at the moment but 51mph tomorrow. The forecast for Friday has changed from 62mph to something a lot milder and predicted back up to 60mph Sunday morning.

For Conwy it's not so much the wind strength but direction. When it's from the west it can hit the marina hard. When it's from NW as it is Sunday it will be 60 mph wind over tide straight down the estuary. That's when we see pontoons etc being flipped and boats taken down with it. Last time that happened I had 1m standing waves under my pontoon and the mooring lines were fair humming under the strain.

I will be watching Saturday. If it looks bad I may take the boat up river and beach it for the duration.

The current front is further North than predicted and we are still in it. The second front there is no escaping.

It looks dire in the XC pics there, but the Predictwind models disagree with each other completely for Sunday and the Met Office is not so violent as XC (though still NW), so the one thing one can be sure of is that the f/c will change over the next day or two I reckon. The weather is wild though with nasty low pressure systems all over the place.

I've found XC to be the most consistently reliable for my localised area. Dont know how that pans out nationally
