Reading the helicopter thread in the Lounge took me back to 1996. We were on board the boat in Conwy harbour during the festival week and noticed helicopter activity ashore, and decided to take a look. To our delight they were giving helicopter rides for a small fee. My wife and I took turns in going up and the memory of that day will stick with us forever. Here are some pics that I took at that time.

Very interesting - we only moved in after the sill gate, etc. was installed, and the slate dock was well on the way to being transformed into Legoland!

Thanks for posting.

I can see my mum and dads motorboat in the marina. :D I think we were in there from 95-98, no pub or sill gate then. I remember them building the shower block/offices.

Do you have those pictures in a larger format? i would love to show them.

Thanks for sharing them.

Many thanks, I can see her . B pontoon, boat 3, White with a grey back canopy. I can even seen our friends next door with their orange inflatable.

She was sold at the end of 98. :(

Thanks again for taking the time to scan them.

That's SR that is, extreme bottom left up the creek & out of the current.

The only problem was that the council just kept shoving the prices up without adding any facilities for the Yotties "because the sailing people don't bring anything to the area, do they?"

She was a bit stunned when I told her about the 6 jobs at the HM, several at the 2 marinas, the rigger, the chandlery, the boatyards, the Inflatable boat maker, not to mention the amount spent in local shops, pubs & restaurants by yotties when they visit the town 5-10 times a year. All there because of the yotties, not to mention all the tripper gongoozelers that only come to watch the boats. Silly cow - more worrying is that she was probably just spouting the opinion of her lords & masters!
