Planning on doing a straight swap with my aux battery and starter battery with two AGM batts.... I've got a very good electrical knowledge but not with batteries. I am aware i can not mix and match due to charging and I'm lead to believe they can not be used with any charger ?? Is this correct or can i just change over

Thanks

Ian

Most modern mains chargers allow you to select the type of batteries installed.
We have AGM's for the house bank and standard lead acid for the starter.
However, the charging regimes for the two banks are completely separate.
Under engine power the engine alternator charges the engine battery whilst the second alternator charges the domestic battery.
The alternators have external regulators and are set to the appropriate battery type.
When on shore power the mains charger (set to AGM) only charges the domestic bank.
