Converting 6HP Tohatsu o/b for remote steering

Would be nice if somebody on here could share some advice on how to do this. Just ordered the conversion kit for my 2005 Tohatsu MFS6A2s. Newer ones seem to have throttle or gear switch at the front, better hope this'll be the correct one then! Since there's no dealer nearby I'll have to do it myself. Unfortunately this isn't really covered by the owner's manual ;-)
I did find some very low quality exploded diagrams online but somehow doubt they'll be much help.

Any hints?
 
Is it the 4 stroke? It will be the same as my 5HP Tohatsu that I converted.
You get a little exploded diagram in the pack that you can just about follow.

When you say you have ordered the kit, do you mean the throttle/gear kit or the steering kit?

Basically you take off the tiller arm and the cable inside the engine cover. You bolt the throttle quadrant shaft through the casing on the starboard side of the engine and bolt the little tower bracket inside the cowl. The small throttle cable supplied goes from the bellcrank on that round to the carb.
You bolt the cable bracket to the cowl, still on the starboard side (There are some little cast bosses for the bracket to fit on.) The cables just clip into that and the gearchange cable has a spring pin that engages in the existing gearshift.

Lakesailor: thanks for uploading, looks almost exactly like my engine. I've ordered the throttle/gear kit, no steering. Actually they're going to send me the Mariner version rather than the Tohatsu branded one as it's slightly cheaper. Still 200 quid though.
 
Don't even ask the Mercury price. They told me it's all the same, even comes in the same bags.
The bit that may throw you is the kit has a single throttle cable whereas the tiller gear has twin cables.

Thanks again Lakey! Finally got round to fitting it and your photos helped a lot. The kit came with a manual which was straight forward enough but had a few mistakes. Sometimes the orientation of a linkage rod was wrong and they show a "rod snapper" which in fact was just a delirin bushing. Didn't look anything like the one in the manual!
I see you didn't bother with re-routing the kill switch. I did follow the instructions but not sure about the advantage there.
 
I still have the bits of wire for the kill switch. Don't have the boat anymore though. I had thought about a line from the kill switch to the helm position so that If I fell off it would pull the wedge out. Never did though.
