there are a few life lines of this type around. The Mitchell Brothers of Poole used (maybe still do) fit one to the Police boat M26 they build. You might also try some of the companies that produce / sell fall arrest devices for building construction / maintenance (www.certex.co.uk).

Sounds like the Latchway system, originally sold by Henri Lloyd if I remember correctly.
We use a similar system to access the crane boom at work.

thank you, it was a latchway transfastener. Just need to see if it can be fitted on our stantions easily.
