The EA have emailed requesting responses to various proposed changes, covering a wide range of administrative areas, from mining waste to oil refining and back again!

Part of the consultation (Section 7.3.2) relates to Navigation Charges, you can view this here: https://consult.environment-agency....8/consultation/subpage.2017-11-10.2151108621/

I imagine that many Forum members might want to comment.

A bit late now as the charges are set in stone.
Already paid mine and got the muddy brown sticker to show for it....

Wow.
Just took a quick look.
First thought is just how long and how many people it took to come up with this?
I am sorry to say that I shall not be completing it.
2 reasons:
Most of it is totally outside my expertise,
It appears to think that my device does not support whatever they are using? It’s an iPad!

Personally, I think very few will complete it as it is so long.

I agree, should have been split into several consultations with more tighter relevance.

I still replied though although history has shown they won't take a blind bit of notice and will have already decided their plan.

Completed the section 7.3.2 boxes at level 1, didn't put anything in the comment boxes other than its the EA's job to calculate how much is required to run the river, not ask boaters who to be honest don't really have a clue!

It's great that Forum members are finding the time to do this. Section 7.3.2 - Forward look for Navigation charges is all you need to complete, and you don't even need to do that in one go as you can save your comments and go back later.

Being a pensionisto, I have loads of time so did it in one go, must've taken all of 3 minutes including my bright ideas for improvements!

I've tried to to this - answered all 5 questions re navigation, then my details, tried to submit & it keeps saying there's questions I haven't answered. Any ideas?

Fill in section 8.4 (marked required) and it should work. I had a similar experience

Many thanks, now managed to submit.

Basically said they shouldn't be able to charge more without a commitment to repair stoppages within a timeframe or pay compensation (as per trains) & a commitment not to restrict navigation with routine maintenance (re Clifton Bridge clearance) during "season" 1st April (or Easter if earlier) until 31st October.

Oh... & they should stop Barry Russell tweeting "good news" & get him to concentrate on ensuring the navigation works.....
