Hi, have tried to connect my Gamin with a USB cable to my computer which is using Windows 7, Garmin says it's connected but nothing coming up on the computer. Have tried with another computer using windows 8 and still the same.
Cheers

What program are you running in the computer to read the data? Have you confirmed that the Com port setting in the program is the same as the com port setting that the computer has allocated to the USB port. If not change it as others have said .

If it helps my 72H connects to PC running XP via EasyGPS software (free) interface.
The Garmin unit interface is set to GARMIN and curiously says 'not connected' when in fact when it is.
The EasyGPS software is set in Edit>Preferences to COM1 and baud rate 9600.The correct model of GPS has to be selected in 'Send to GPS'.Maybe you have a different GPS unit previously selected and have to correct this. The baud rate will perhaps change automatically when you enter the actual model.
My setup works happily.
There is also an item in the EasyGPS 'GPS' sub menu that allows you to see if the connection is made. This saves waiting to see if a transfer is made successfully.
