Connecting Garmin 298 GPS to M-TEC DSC radio

Ths weekend I am linking these items up - hopefully to join the brave new world of DSC. I have passed the exam got the MMSI number and think I have worked out which wires to connect up (the NMEA Rx+ from each and connect the RX- of the DSC to GPS ground ). Any tips from the forum in what to expect and look out for would be appreciated.

[/ QUOTE ]That won't work. You need to connect the Garmin NMEA TX+ (the blue wire) to the NMEA RX+ of the M-Tech radio (the brown wire). And you need to set the Garmin Comm tab to "NMEA In/NMEA Out".

If you wish, you can also connect the Garmin NMEA RX+ (the brown wire) to the M-Tech radio's NMEA output (the orange wire), so that DSC alerts can be shown on the Garmin's screen.
