i have a 6hp suzuki, 2005 vintage. the snap on connector for the fuel line projects foreward of the engine cowling just next to the throttle handle.
i have managed to break the fuel connector off once as it is somewhat exposed, this creates too much excitement when trying to get to the mooring.

so, should i 'just' take out the snap on connector, feed the fuel line from the external tank into the engine and hose clip it onto the fuel line inside the engine??
or is there a better way ??

many thanks for your input.

Suggestions that come to mind are to relocate the fitting if possible or to fit something more robust of a different make.
A permanent connection will make life difficult, wont it, when removing the engine ( I could not contemplate it with my engine and its 5 gallon tank) or when removing the tank to refuel.

Possible to devise some sort of protection bar around the fitting?

Not sure about your specific engine but you should be able to by-pass the connector and use a hoseclip on the inside of the cowling. I'd just make sure the other (tank end) had the original type connectors so that you can switch/remove fuel tanks easily.

[/ QUOTE ] Not so handy if the connections at the tank end are crimped on.
