Congrats to Medway boaters

I went along, by road unfortunately, with camera in hand to record proceedings. It was a great event and everyone seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves. It was unofficial, but both the EA and plod had a presence. Not sure they had much to do. What I thought was really noticeable was how many youngsters there were. I'm not talking about kids, although there was plenty of those, I mean young people in their 20's and 30's on boats. Don't see that very often and gives me hope that there really is another generation of boaters out there :)

Did go along and was surprised by the number of boats which turned up.
As an observation, the numbers were made up by smaller vessels owned by youngsters which tend to be craft of the "interesting" and run on a "budget" variety, which you simply do not see on the Thames, also present were a few fishing boats from Southend.
A sign of the straightend times we live in was the Water Rozzers.
In previous years it was 6 blokes in head to foot black stab vests and a nourmous black rib with twin 250hp Mercs.
This year it was two chaps in a distinctly time worn little red inflatable and a single tatty 40HP outboard.:)
