Re: Ireland beat England

Martin, Ireland were sailing an elegant vessel name of Ronan O'Gara and 14 other fine men.

Re: So what

no - it means that the team that won the world cup (just!) was not the team playing today.

England might have been the best team in the world cup but they were in no way predominant in the way that the All Blacks have been. So the loss of a few key players means that they are ordinary. You saw it in the other matches played since the World cup.. Personally, I doubt they will beat the French.

Re: For me

one of the most wonderful things about Sailing is that a Football, of whatever shape you may prefer, is totally useless on a boat.

The Melbourne Grand Prix is on at 2.00 PM. Now thats a different matter.

Re: Congratulations Ireland

Brilliant game, and what an Ireland defence.

No idea about the long line out - it's almost like they have an obsession with it, but interesting to see Steve Thompson replaced. Knew we'd lost it when I saw Jason R playing scrum half.

A well desrved Ireland win, well done.

More than happy to get beaten once every ten years, although not sure if I can survive RTE blowing about it for the next nine years.

George, remind me please. How often did England win the World cups in Soccer and in Rugby during the last 40 years?

Allow us our moment of joy. We didn't begrudge England theirs. Much:-)

Re: Football on boats

This isn't true. You can have exceleent games of football on boats, in the saloon. You need a small ball and fast feet maximum 2 people per side. Also, provided you don't have fiddles on the table, you can play table tennis as well.

Re: That rather

depends on the size of your vessel. If I tried it on my boat, I fear, serious personal injury may be the result. I suspect there are many here who would applaud this but , being a woos, I shall avoid any desires to find out.

One thing you should know about TCM\'s vessel

When the USN put the USS Enterprise ashore for antifouling, they chartered TCM's runabout and flew on the Enterprise's squadrons.

When he was referring to football, it was Gridiron he was talking about.
