Hi Everyone,

I've bought a NASA wireless wind system which consists of the mast head unit, receiver and display unit....so far so good. Have mounted it on board and everything works. I also bought their converter box which will convert the wireless signal into nmea2000. The problem is that I'd like to maintain the display unit as well as outputting the nmea2000 signal for my mfd to read. You would have thought this was a typical scenario but there's nothing in the manuals that says it's possible and after speaking to them they didn't seem to know either. Unfortunately I can't simply try it as I'm waiting for the mfd and nmea2000 cabling to arrive and my 14 days return window (on the converter) is fast approaching....does anyone know if what I'm trying to achieve is possible??

I don't know what sort of converter you have, but the NASA only has 0183 output. There is no reason I think why you cannot take the 0183 on the base unit which the display needs and also to an 0183/2000 converter. You can't take the wireless signal direct

I have the same unit and I have taken 0183 to the display and to the Autopilot simply by using Wago 3 way connector. NASA do a converter nasamarine.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Canbus-NMEA-2000-Wind-Sensor.pdf which is intended for the wired wind, but the sentences are the same and the wires the same. Connect that to the wireless base unit alongside the connections to the display (the wire colours are the same) and the output is a plug to your NMEA 2000 network.

Hope that helps

If you open a return on the last day, you will get a few weeks to return it and you can always cancel the return if it turns out it works fine.
