CI is 20 years old today - and to be honest she is starting to show her age /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

There were 8-10 small blisters in the stern / transom area of the boat when I hauled out last w/e, so ho-hum its time to spend some more beer tokens!

On the positive side she still looks good and runs well, so maybe I'm just over reacting. I find problems with my boat depressing, I always like it to be in tip-top condition and I worry when it isn't.

Have I finally lost the plot altogether?? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well happy birthday to her. I wouldn't mind having a 20 year old girl at my beck and call /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

My own remedy for this is a nice thick coat of very dark paint. What you don't see you won't worry about ! My earlier post re : osmosis & catastrophic structural failure revealed some interesting experiences - predominantly catastrophic for the wallet that is.

If you want to worry about something really important Christmas is fast approaching & wot to get the wife !

Happy Birthday Coney Island.

What is key here is that a great boat is still getting regular use and maintenance. Despite her aging (none of us can stop it, just delay it) she has many more fun years ahead.

I applaud you for the attention and care you have lavished on her and after 20 years she is still going strong! A few blisters here and there won't matter, she will still bash through those waves and big seas!

Enjoy each other, you have earn't it!

Cheers

Phew! Tell me about it.
Having progressed over the Years with newish stuff and oldish stuff (boatwise not girlfriends etc etc snigger).
OK if the Numbers came up I,d be a spending.
You,ve got a quality piece of kit, you know it,s ins and outs ,to replace Her with something "better" would probably mean a large cash injection.
My struggles with some niggles on My Nimbus are drawing to a close.
But with perseverance I,m almost there.
To improve what I,ve got I would need to inject £20,000 or more so I,m going to stick with Her for a couple of seasons and get some enjoyement and "value "from Her.
CI Is only 20 years old (bleedin whipper snapper in boating years/age)!

Plus She suits the area you boat in, ie short choppy Seas a big range of tides sand banks every were difficulct access , orrible prevailing winds, locals with a foreign tongue, no Night club worth tralking about, sheep sh**gers at every turn+ full of Grockels in the Summer, Don.t know why you bother! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
