The surface of my 20-year old Gebo hatches are now badly crazed and I'm sure I read somewhere that this seriously weakens them. Can anyone confirm this? Should I replace them?

The survey I had done when I bought my boat mentioned that the acrylic in my Lewmar foreward hatch was 'striated' and needed changing now as it could give way under foot. As per usual the insurance required all surveyors recommendations be followed so I refurbished the hatch with new acrylic and seals.
My hatch had no metal bracing across the acrylic - if yours has then I would imagine that replacement may not be necessary
