Best suggestions for insulating a cabin in a GRP boat, please. currently the hull has elderly headlining, which is starting to come away - I'd like to remove it, and insulate to minimise the condensation. (PS this is an extension to an earlier question on same-ish subject)

Thanks in advance

I've just been looking as a product called "Depron" - it is a high-performance PU foam insulation that is designed for insulating floors - but I am considering it both for on-boat insulation and insulating walls at home.

Without having seen a sample I can't say whether it is suitable for sticking to the headlining, but I don't think you'll find anything better at the same thickness (3mm or 6mm)

Thinsulate is great, for a cheaper lookalike find the rolls of insulation sold in the sheds to go on outside-wall central heating radiators.

Put that on with foil facing in, then headlining stuck on 2mm marine-ply sections with inverted T wooden mouldings holding the edges. Retain these by thro' screws.

Preventing condensation is a combination of preventing large temperature gradients at surfaces and promoting air-flow - neither will do the job in isolation.

I have also used cork floortiles to line the hull in spaces you cannot usually see, under buks, cupboards etc, coat of varnish and they are excellent.

My boat has, for it's head lining, a nice light brown shag pile, don't knock it, we sail all winter, never get a drip, and if you go 180 you get to walk on the carpet!
