I have an early 70s 4-inch Concept compass made by Sestrel which attaches to the mizzen mast in the cockpit by way of a wedge-shaped slot. On my last trip I fell against it and broke the white plastic bracket just where it fits over the wedge. It can't be fixed. No spares available from Sestrel (now Sirs). Any helpful thoughts on where I might find a new bracket?

A) get a local engineering company to make you a new one in stainless steel or brass. Unless its really complex, it should be slightly less than buying a new compass.

B) Second hand chandlery shops. The one I know of in our area (Solent) is on the river Hamble, called Foulkes Chandlery Barge. I doubt it's worth phoning, its like Steptoes in there. Best course of action is to go and look.
