My advice is don't try any of the other ways mentioned... chances are that it won't work!

I agree completely with respect to copying/synching the applications (or OS /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif).

My reference to use of SyncToy (or similar) was purely with reference to its use for data files. I did not within my wildest dreams imagine anyone would be wanting to copy, sync or whatever the applications on a PC with another as is a very silly thing to do for the obvious reasons mentioned (though many will be fine) - personally, never known anyone silly enuff to have tried it.

Maybe the posters with other ideas did not contemplate anyone wanting to copy or sync applications either and therefore their ideas should not be dismissed as readily as you seem to have done either.

The original poster wanted to transfer programs and so I did dismiss the other ideas and I should have dismissed them very readily indeed.

They were implying that their ideas would work for the original poster and they won't.

I didn't say that their ideas were not good ideas for transferring data files (photos, documents, music etc) or for back up solutions for distaster recovery... I just said they were not a solution for the original problem.
