Hi all ,
I know there is a wealth of computery knowledge out there so hope some of you can throw some light on a problem I have since my knowledge of all things computery is very limited!!
Recently on start up a small box some 2"square appears inthe middle of the screen across the top of the box is the word RUNDLL underneath are the words "error in wnim.dll missing entry" with an OK press panel beneath . Pressing OK permits loading but I'm at a lost as to what this is or how to correct/ delete any ideas???

Cheers

Well I'm no Windows expert, but I just did a lengthy web search for you and what you have looks like a known browser hijack. You don't say what version of Windows you're running but this might be of use if you're running Win98. The removal technique might work with later versions of Windows too??

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Terry,

There is suspicion that wnim.dll is what is known as malware.

Now, don't panic, as it has largely been seen as pretty harmless.... its not a virus, or a trojan or any of the other nasty things that you may have read about... in fact nobody really seems sure what it does....!

There is a way of getting rid of it, which can be found here but you might need some specialist help to do this, if you are not very confident with your computer.

I don't think you need to panic about it though!

There is a thread on it here though there is not a lot of information about it. Would seem to be some sort of malware or possibly a trojan but inconvenient more than anything else. No returns on a search on Google UK and only a handfull internationally. The lack of information would suggest that it is not very widespread, possibly left over from some software you have tried?

Unfortunatley there are networks out in the cyberworld that want you to give them 'hits'.....so they will place spybots/trackers etc on your PC. To rid these annoying aggrovating little nasty's download these two links, which should solve your problems.

These links are FREE!

To scan you PC for Virus's.
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm

To remove spy bots and trackers etc:
http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0 (Select and download Ad-Aware in the Privacy & Security menu, listed in the Anti-spyware tools)

Regards....Dave
