Computer help please?

Hi all I am trying to register on a technical forum..similar to this one ,for car maintenance etc.
I have put in user name and password as requd. and received an activation e mail from site" to activate the account please follow this link " http// www etc etc. The link is not "active" ,so what do I do to get the bl**dy thing to work? I have tried to copy and paste it to the address bar but that just brings me back to where I started. I am sure it is very simple,but I can't figure it out. Thanks in advance.

I've tried and registered quite quickly and easily, so there must be something up with the registration url they've sent you.

Can you copy the entire url into a pm to me, and I'll take a look and see if I can find what the problem is
