Compulsory for pensioners!

That might be because you said this in the original post? Can you imagine someone in their 70s bringing their Broom into a marina! Sounds dangerous to me.

I know, but I then added the "I'll get my coat" comment to show it was tongue in cheek.

Obviously really hit a nerve.

Not really, just putting the other side of the case. I have been frightened in our berth by visitors arriving next door in boats both sail and motor, small and large and operated by young and old. Incompetence knows no boundaries!

That said despite a lifetime in sailboats small to large we will have some basic instruction on our trawler. I'd hate to dent it, or another boat, first time out and we do appreciate things are different and not as easy as it seems.

Yes - this age discrimination is most unjust.

I will be 70 this year and I am just as capable of making a mess of a manoeuvre as I ever was. :D

Even more time than me to practice getting it wrong!:D

Like the thousands of hopeful golfers bashing balls at driving ranges just to make sure that all of their weird swing faults are fully ingrained in muscle memory!
