I am fitting a compressor fridge and am interested in hearing how these new fangled devices cope compared to the good old gas fridge! I will be heading to the south of France, can it cope with the ,hopefully, high tempratures ?

go ahead with a compressor fridge,
they work perfect for us in summer in Kroatia,
even when putting in non cooled drinks, you can cool them at a very refreshing temperature.
even when opening the fridge many times in a day, they keep the drinks cold.
we can keep the frindge on 24h hours a day, if we drive the boat some time, during the day. (we have no shore power connection)
if the boat is left alone for +24h, we have to switch off the fridge otherwise battery is empty.
