Hi, after my post the other day I trotted off to try shorting the thermostat and lo and behold something happened! it didn't start the compressor working but the cooling fan on the unit did start to cycly on and off. What does this mean? that there is a pressure switch inside that if it detects no gas it will not allow the compressor to start? That the thermostat was not allowing the cooling fan to work? Dunno. Like I said, the damn thing worked first time after refitting it but upon restarting two weeks later, nada. Have I got the wires on the control box plugged in correctly? Power to the plus and minus, ok. Fan red to plus below this and fan black wire to F. Blue thermostat to C and brown to T????? The boat is in Denmark and I am trying to find someone to come and look but it's not easy to get them to commit to arriving! I'm off to buy a big block of ice for the weekend - and that ain't easy either! Any more thoughts?

Drink or milk contaibners of plastic the larger the better can be filled with water and frozen in a home freezer. They will last a long time in the ships cool box. olewill

Not sure I can help much, but one observation, if the condensor fan operated then your compressor was almost certainly running (it certainly should have been). If it cycled, depends how long cycles were. If cycles were short, then one possibility is low pressure and loss of refrigerant. Not sure about Waeco, but many systems have pressure switches in to cut out with insufficient refrigerant. Why not have a word with Waeco and ask them for comments? Generally systems are very reliable and they would almost certainly have pressure tested system before refilling and returning to you. Cannot help with wiring colours I'm afraid.

Please double check your electrical connections. I had the same symptoms on a Waeco installation. The thing would start up and then die after a few seconds. It was sensing less than the cutoff voltage under load, but restarting when the voltage rose again offload. (as sensed at the compressor controller) . Does it do the same thing when connected to shorepower? Measure the voltage AT THE COMPRESSOR.
