Following on from my disappointment that the Complete Letdown wouldnt let us moor the boat overnight if we dined and wined there, I penned an email to their customer service peeps suggesting their attitude was a tad short sighted and suggesting a more common sense approach might be helpful.

Well, had an email from the GM of the hotel tonight apologising that I had been misinformed and of course I can stay overnight if we use the hotels facilities and there are vacancies both for dinner and for mooring and if I'd like to call them they'd be happy to take my reservation.

A happy ending ? Not really - they would require an overnight mooring fee of £50.

Guess its not just some peeps in Westminster that don't get it........

So lets get this right.

One can park a skanky old Ford Mondeo overnight for free, but not a £50,000 boat!?

Hmmmm..... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Nearly!

I'm still the director of a travel company, and made a few suggestions.

So, Tony can now moor overnight free if he's using the Hotel facilities, speak to Gaius Wyncoll, the General Manager by all means, but I have an Email confirming the fact... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The mooring is now free to diners!!

The mooring WAS free as a diner - the £50 fee was if one wished to remain on the mooring overnight.

Anyway, yesterday afternoon, as a result of a further email from me, I received a very helpful response from the hotels GM which unforunately came a little too late to revise our plans but which also augers well for the future.

I am encouraged and will report again when I am able.

Dear Mr Thompson,

Thank you for your email. The charge for mooring is not a new policy and one that has been in place for many years. I have however taken your feedback on board and have chosen to waiver the fee for guests using the hotel facilities for the forthcoming year. If this helps to increase business to the hotel then I will continue to offer the same arrangements in the future.

Once again, please accept my apologies for any inconvenience caused. Your feedback is appreciated.

Regards

Gaius Wyncoll
General Manager

An encouraging response IMHO, and one that deserves testing at the first available opportunity!

Now, how about a list of businesses we can coerce into similar behaviour?

I shall kick start a new thread, and hopefully we'll be able to park anywhere by the end of the season /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
