Has anyone got anything good to say about this company?

I wanted a pair of waterproof boots. Compass were offering a free knife with all purchases over a minimum value (which was less than the price of the boots) so that swayed my choice of vendor to Compass.

The boots didn't fit as per my normal size 10 footwear but it would be unfair to blame Compass. However, the knife wasn't in the parcel. A phone call to Compass resolved that, and the boots went back for a credit.

Overall experience: not too bad but this experience doesn't allow me to recommend them.

p.s. I work for the UK's largest private employer and our company has only grown to that size by meeting or exceeding our customer's expectations. This has been achieved in a very competitive market. I guess I use my company's standards of service as a benchmark when comparing other vendors.

Nick Iv bought quite a bit off them last couple of years,
And never had a problem, but there has been some critism of this company in the past.
Can only speak as I find, Maybe just lucky !

I have used them quite often and found them ok - although the last order was for 2 thermal mugs and a pair of shoes - the shoes were out of stock and end of line and I received 4 mugs instead of 2

Twice I've ordered stuff off them and then had to wait 4 weeks in the first instance and 6 weeks in the second for the kit to be delivered. Trying to phone Compass to find out where my order was didn't help- the phone staff were friendly enough, but seemed to be on a level with two short planks as far as ability to do anything goes.

In the end, with the second order I bought the stuff elsewhere, and sent the Compass stuff back when it finally arrived.

I've had the same experiences as Jacket. Orders very late, wrong things delivered and as stated the staff were helpful but a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic when contacted. I've recently bought my first keelboat and spent a lot of money at chandlers, Compass and other internet sites. Their customer service for me is one of the worst. But in their favour their gear is cheap so I think that's the only reason they must be doing so well. Out of all the gear I've bought I have to commend John at allgadgets.com excellent service, gear delivered in a couple of days and a good price as well.
Compass should take note !!!!!!!

Maybe I've been lucky, but I've always got what I ordered on time. A set of oilies made from a batch of faulty material were changed without any problem. I decided to upgrade, and the new ones ("Professional Offshore") are great, if a little OTT for Solent cruising.

I bought a NASA Clipper navtex from Compass at the Amsterdam show. It failed on the return journey of my summer cruise. Contacted Compass and arranged to return it. That was two weeks ago. When last contacted they said it might be 8 weeks before they either repair or replace it.
