My compass, a Plastimo Olympic 135, has developed a large bubble (possibly as a result of my removing it!). Plastimo do not undertake repairs to their compasses and have recommend I contact a compass repairer. Any recommendations for one based around Southampton or Poole. I need an e-mail address so that I can obtain estimates before I lug it back from Thailand. The cheaper alternative may be to buy a new one!

I had an excellent repair (for a very large bubble, the dome was dry!) carried out by R. J. Muir, Compass Adjusting and Repairs, 22 Seymour Close, Chandlers Ford, Eastleigh, Hampshite SO53 2JE. Tel/Fax 023 8026 1042. My compass was repaired in October 2001 and cost £35.25 including VAT and was done very quickly. I left it at Mr Muir's house and, I think, picked it up two days later. The work done for this cost was: Dome cleaned up, new diaphragm fitted, refilled, pumped and tested. Hope this helps. Have you tried looking for someone in Klong Toi? I seem to remember having survey instruments repaired in Bangkok when I was living in Thailand

You could try Robinson in Hamble next to the curry house, he swings compass' and does repairs I think.
