Hi,

I have a Ritchie Binnacle compass and the glass is scratched quite extensively. Anybody got any ideas how to polish it out. I don't know whether its glass or plastic, but its circa 1980's if that helps.

Looks like it has been scratched at some point by the visor attachment.

Many Thanks

quite high! this is one of the questions that comes up a lot, same as what oil to fill a compass with a bubble in it, etc etc /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Just use cheap common or garden toothpaste and a quality yellow duster to apply and polish off.
Use in a swirling circlular pattern using light pressure only. Remove frequently to stop the possibility of putting scratches from existing foreign matter (dirt) back into the plastic.

You can also use very fine grade Farecla rubbing compound, but toothpaste is a 20th of the price.

This will take time but you should see results.

Will work on minor scratching and glaze damage. Wont repair gouges.....
