Having just installed a replacement bulkhead compass ( Contest 101) I have just realised that I bought a unit designed to fit a vertical bulkhead. My Sadler has an inclined one (10+ degrees).
How will this affect the readings?
Do I have to junk the new compass and buy one suited for an inclined bulkhead?
Any advice most welcome

IMHO I think it means as opposed to horizontal . 10 degrees is neither here nor there . It moves more than that when at sea .

The Plastimo catalogue lists two compasses for bulkheads - one for vertical bulkheads and one for 10 to 25º bulkheads. If yours is only 10º I think you'll get away with it.
Alternatively, fit it on a wooden ring tapered at 10º and it will then be vertical.
