Evening all,
Am thinking of buying Van about £30,000, we're VAT registered and wondered what is the best way to buy this vehicle.
Thanks
Keith

Given the tendency of previous posts, wouldnt you be better with a smaller van and a butchers bike ? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

i'm a contract hire fan - worth considering depending on mileage - otherwise it might be better to buy the van personally and then claim a mileage allowance- you need to speak to your accountant

As said - speak to your accountant - but providing the Van is considered by IR to be a van (big arguments on some models e.g. pickups with extended cabs are not vans) - then currently it doesn't fall under the company car scheme - where you get punitively taxed (but don't blame me if they change the rules next year and then argue the case for the previosu 20 years - bitter - me ?) - you just declare it as P11D on your tax form - for a flat annualy payment of something like £150.

Check with someone who really knows - but thats my understanding - so there can be some advantages to running a van through a company

Company van will soon be taxed as Company Car .. Something in the budget the other year . Something to do with claiming back VAT on Crew Cabs that look like GIANT 4 X 4 's that are used to tow .......... & the odd boat .. Check with your Advisor / Accountant .. or just buy your own .. If you have your own and claim milage then you have to keep a book of all the journeys you do .. Boring what .. Back to the good old days .. Buy a car and use it ..
