Allington is the point of entry/exit to the EA waterway and is the only lock which is manned - from 2 hours before to 2 hours after HW during the working day IIRC.

If you speak to them nicely they will come out any time day or night.
Well they did for me a few weeks ago, Tim his name was nice fella, when i rung him to tell him i was nearly there he told me to hold on as there wasnt enough water over the sill, then just after i ran aground at Aylesford, right outside the pub, luckily for me none of the drinkers seemed to notice!
Ive been down to get their advice a few times and they were really helpful.

There's a sign at Folly Point (that's in the tidal bit to the un adventurous) saying 6 knots.
funny how that is ignored by the jetskis, the water skiers by Rochester Bridge, the Hoovercrafts.
Damn difficult trying to rub down / varnish the boat with all that wash......
Maybe I'm becoming a raggie......
