There was only me on the list for some time......well me and the Commode that is.
There is always a roast after this event and a few snifters to help it down, lack of a cook meant no grub either.
All turned out OK in the end.
25 boats ventured out and 90 odd folks sat down to traditional roast put on by the sort of club members who usually step into the breach when needs must........
It did not rain and only one boat retired injured.
OG did some washing up.
Managed to sneak out and visit the office of the Bridge Wardens next to the castle,they were having their annual open day.
There has been a bridge across the Medway here since Roman times.The Bridge Wardens have also been around for some considerable time.
The building,an old chapel, is full of maps and paintings of earlier incarnations of the present bridge,a nice original sketch by a Mr JW Turner is also on display.
Most revealing was the amount of property the wardens hold in trust to fund bridgeworks.
