Is it clunky?

I am not trying to sell anything to you guys as I have said before; I have removed my website address from my signature.

You are not the target market, most of you make your own gear as I do, hence the question about the video. Your comments and advice are invaluable and if I get work at local sailing clubs I will be most pleased. I think I am better at working on boats than sailing them anyway.

I am a bit tired_shot the video after walk to park, edited and uploaded etc _ 0300 hours about now and groggy but insomnia won't let me sleep, so better to do some work than watch TV or whatever.

Had to set camcorder to iso 1600, so quality is not that good, but best I can achieve. The US Cree Leds I have installed are eye popping in the flesh.

Again, harsh comments taken on the chin, I will just blame it on the insomnia. The comments about my website really helped me and drove me to try to make it better. None of my friends told me what you guys did and I appreciate the honesty and the help. I have to succeed as I am running out of things around the house to sell and a second mortgage or re-mortgage or whatever it is called is not on the books. The only money I have ever borrowed was for the house and if I cannot afford something we simply don't buy it.

Thank you.

Personally I think it would be better if you talked the viewer through your product and sold it to them. Tell them what you had modified and what its benefits were. Add your logo at the start of the video and where you can buy the products at the end of the video. I would also probably add your web address as an overlay.

Gave up after watching the first video, you are not comparing like with like. The two torches were designed for very different jobs. You need to compare two that were designed to do the same job.

Thank you for those.

Not sure that the 2D cell maglite is not designed to do the same as the 'orange pistol grip' torch. Mine is obviously brighter and more effiecient _ it just lacks focus ability. But then it cost me just over £10 to put together and the maglite is £30.

Just saw your web site and the embedded youtube video. Now that is quality.

Yes, I am sure you are correct _ sounds like a good idea. Would have to get someone else to do the talking as I would be awful.

I have to agree with the poster who suggests that you are not comparing like for like.10 years ago Maglites were the torch to have, but they have fallen a long way behind the competition even in LED form. Single battery Cree torches can be far better than even 4 D Cell maglites, so to demonstrate the the superior features of your torch I would use a similar set up that already has a good following.

My suggestion would be to use something like the Clu-Briter hand held torch. Good luck, the product looks like it may have legs.

Thanks. Yes, very similar looking torch. Can you believe youtube has no clips that I can find of the Clu-Briter? Thought everything was on there.

Finished updating the 12V monster torch. Uploaded to here:

Please forgive the way my son shouted at me. Honestly, parents these days!

Did draw over 6 Amps with the blue car light bulb and was not bright enough. Now draws 4 amps and is so bright it is almost unbelievable. LEDs have come a long way. Only took a few hours of work and less than a £5 in parts. One happy customer. I also installed a voltmeter as his 12V battery was new and he wanted to monitor it. I enjoyed the project.

Received my 3.7 lithium ion battery for my Cree ultrafire today. Makes quite a difference obviously. Still prefer my Cree headtorch.

Well, I really feel like a holiday now. All work and no play and no money. I may even wrap up and go for a dinghy sail. May try to do a yacht delivery. That would be nice. I always say that before and after, but during, it is all hard work and I say never again............

Only watched the first one - very slow & drawn-out. Sorry, but you did ask. Didn't hold my attention enough to take in what little tech stuff may have been there.

Yeah, I know. They are truly a pile of poo.

Out of focus......

Going to take some sleeping tabs tonight and try to sort this insomnia out and then I may produce some better stuff _ clunkiest videos I have ever seen.

Torches are good though. And I do love walking around on a dry crispy night.

You don't need to film at 1080 for you tube. even 720 is not needed as the player defaults to 320. If you lower the quality you film at you don't need to use such a high ISO.
You will get much smoother video at a lower resolution and lower ISO. It may even stay in focus.

Thanks. Will experiment with that. Would never have known any of that without you. This place is full of helpful, clever people _ it's great.
